Pear Blossom

When I found out Nancy was pregnant I was so excited, selfishly I could not wait to photograph her!  I even scored ebay looking for dresses and coming up with a concept.  Things were planned and then last minute I took a completely different turn and I’m so happy I did … the style and color of the images is perfect for Nancy … they are warm, magical, nurturing, welcoming and breathtaking … everything that she encompasses.  Love this girl!

I love maternity shoots!  I say that every time … but really I love them!  This time I got to photograph not only a mommy but her precious 2 year old as well.  I’ll keep it short, Madison is yelling for me to go and get our car washed (she just wants her ice cream she gets every time we go to the car wash!).

I wish more women decided to do maternity shoots after their first baby.  It’s a great way to celebrate your baby, your body and the new beginning of your family.  By including your children into your maternity shoot you’re documenting it not only for yourself but for your children.  At my last shoot I had a perfectly adorable family of 3, Mom decided to bring her two kids along and I’m so glad she did! We had so much fun, they were adorable in every picture they took and they even assisted me when shooting their mom … it was a great way to include them and make them feel special.   

When Sarah told me she was pregnant with number 2 I was so excited.  Sarah’s first maternity shoot produced one of my most favorite images, an image that gets requested A LOT and for good reason … she looks breathtaking in it!  For me Sarah photographs so easily, effortless to be exact, she has a natural grace and poise that I only wish I could have!  She doesn’t over do it for pictures, she just shines and glows in her beautifulness.  She now has a little mini me who as well photographs amazing!  Together they are a super stars.

I recently had a super fun family shoot.  It was a top secret Father’s Day shoot with mom and the kids.  My goal was to create images that were warm, loving and inviting … something dad would look at and treasure.  A man loves to see his beautiful wife with his loving children, just like moms love pictures of their kids with their daddy.  Since Suzanne is a friend I had a slight advantage in nudging her the direction I wanted the shoot to go in.   So instead of playing outside on the swings we went inside and took camp on the family bed.  I’d like to think I captured the fun that this family is.  Each and every one of them is so loving, funny and unique.  

So I celebrated my 31st birthday this weekend.   I had about an entire week of celebrating, it was crazy and so much fun!  My family spoils me and I love it  We went to Big Bear on Wednesday and came home just in time to hit up the dodger game on Saturday with 20 of our closest friends and family.  It was an exciting night with the dodgers winning.  The weekend followed with the beach, tons of amazing food and some super sweet gifts.  Like I said … I’m spoiled! 

I’ve gotten behind on blogging!  I have an amazing maternity session to share.  Stacy and Bryan were super stars from start to finish, totally down for anything and happy the entire time.  I love super easy going couples.   I think their pictures capture the love they share, the gorgeousness that is Stacy and the laid back side of them.  

My poor little blog has gone unattended too for a while so I decided to jump on and share a sneak peek of a recent maternity shoot I did.  I’ve been shooting lots of maternity lately, there must be something in the water!  Maternity is something I love shooting, each shoots offers up a chance to do things a little differently and have fun with it.  Robbin was a super star and worked her bathing suit like no one else! 

I say this every time I photograph a maternity client … I LOVE Maternity shoots!!!  I love every thing about a pregnancy shoot, I love how women feel special and beautiful, I love how their husbands look at them with the glow in their eyes and I love how gorgeous a woman’s body looks when she is expecting.  Pregnancy is a beautiful thing and it should be celebrated!   

I had such a difficult time choosing images to share, really there were so many awesome pictures and I just haven’t had time to edit the entire gallery so I grabbed a handful that inspired me and worked on them.  I may need to revisit this couple on a future post AFTER I’ve edited all the pictures.  We did a little bit of everything on this shoot.   

Jen and David share a special bond, you can tell just by looking at their images.  They are deeply in love!  They are entering a very exciting time in their life and they both couldn’t be happier to be sharing it with each other.   Congrats to both of you guys!!! 

Anyone who knows me knows I love maternity shoots, I have since the first maternity shoot I ever shot!  There is just something so special about a woman who is carrying a beautiful baby inside her belly.  Hands down … pregnant women are beautiful!   Charlene and her husband were so amazing to work with, so easy going, up for anything and so in love.  Don’t you just love seeing a couple who are pregnant with their first baby?? Charlene was glowing, she was one week from having her little baby boy and looking flawless (yes one week out!).   

This weekend I met up with Juno and Sam to do some maternity pictures of them, the session was so much fun and this couple is soooooo sweet!  They are both such beautiful people and have such adorable smiles and the best attitudes … all great elements for any photo shoot!    

When you arrive to a photo shoot and your client is wearing these heels you know you’re in for some fun!
