Consumed with Spam
Filed Under (News) by Shannon Stewart on 13-05-2008
'); ?>Ever since switching to wordpress as my blog provider I have been overwhelmed with spam comments, I get about 30 a day. Between yesterday and today I had a whopping 161 comments … all spam thank you very much! It’s so annoying, I have no idea how to make it go away … any ideas?
For the sake of being bored … weird pictures

Really cool and artistic colors and textures!

First I LOVE your blog!! I am always stalking it. Second, yes to stop the spam use the Akismet plugin. It really works.
I had this problem, too, until I added the part where they have to type in a specific word that it shows. hope this will help for you too!!
Spam comments drive me crazy! With Blogger, using the Word Verification step has definitely decreased my spam comments. Not sure if Wordpress has this but it sounds like if not, then Andrea’s suggestion should work.
I love playing with textures and special effects.
I second the Akismet plugin…although I may get one or two slip through every now and again.
Thank you guys so much for the advice! I used the Akismet plug in as suggested by Andrea and Raye and it worked like a charm. You guys are the best!!!
You say strange…. I say artisitc and cute! Love your work and blog!
Good stuff. that first one is a stunner. See you don’t need an SLR - just get on the phone!!!
As for the spam yes the Akismet plug in gathers up some 95% of spam. Some still gets through but I have found that not enough to disturb me. Mind you, this blog gets more hits than mine each day too. Load it up and it may make a difference.
Nothing more annoying than spam. I was on Jeff Ascough’s blog the other day and he mentioned he switched back to typepad for that reason only… Spam. He got so inundated with it, that he was forced to switch. But it sounds like you found a way around it.
